When we started our search for sheep back in 2021, we had decided on Gotland Sheep. When we found a breeder right here in Nova Scotia and went to visit them, we got to meet their Valais Blacknose sheep too. We instantly fell in love with this breed. We had seen pictures of these sheep over the years but they are so rare in Canada that we didn’t get to meet any until we went to visit Dover Farm.
Before we brought our Gotland sheep home, Veronica and John bred them for us to some of their rams. When our lambs started arriving, our first lambs born were two beautiful F1 Valais Blacknose lambs. We are thrilled to have these sheep as the foundation for Iron Maple Valais Blacknose sheep. We are so thankful to John and Veronica from Dover Farm for allowing us to use their beautiful sheep as the foundation of our flock.
